Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-05-19

petDiagnose takes your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the rights you have.

1. Data We Collect

We only collect data that you provide or that is necessary for features you use: • Sign-up & login: email, password hash (or your public Google OAuth profile). • Profile: display name and avatar (optional). • Activity: comments you post, diseases you bookmark, disease pages you have viewed. • Donations: transactions completed through Stripe / PayPal — we store only the transaction ID, amount, and timestamp; we never see your card number. • Technical data: cookies, browser type, language preference, IP (handled briefly by third parties at login or checkout).

2. Purpose

Data is used to provide account authentication, comment & bookmark features, donor-tier entitlements, content quality and ranking, abuse prevention, and any compliance with applicable law.

3. Third-Party Services

Some data is processed by the following providers on our behalf: • Supabase — authentication and database storage. • Stripe / PayPal — payment processing and receipts. • Google OAuth — third-party sign-in. • Google AdSense — ad delivery and measurement (uses cookies). • NCBI PubMed — referenced only as a source for AI generation; no user data is sent.

4. Cookies

We use essential cookies (to keep you signed in and remember your language) and third-party cookies (AdSense for personalized ads). You may disable cookies at any time in your browser, although some features may stop working. If you are in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, a consent prompt is shown for advertising cookies before they are set, and you can change your choice at any time.

5. Your Rights

You can modify or delete your display name, avatar, and comments at any time from your Profile page. If you want full deletion of your account and associated data, please email us.

6. Data Retention

Account data is retained while your account is active. After account deletion, personally identifying data is removed within 30 days; transaction records may be retained for up to 5 years to satisfy accounting regulations.

7. Children's Privacy

The Site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you become aware of such data, please contact us and we will remove it promptly.
